EGX ends Wednesday in green; market cap adds EGP 7.9bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session up, backed by Arab and foreign buying.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 7.9 billion and closed the session at EGP 875.9 billion.

The benchmark EGX30 index jumped 229.55 points, or 1.47%, finishing the session at 15,835.7 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index edged up 0.28% to 745.3 points, while the broader EGX100 index added 0.55% to 1,926 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index went up 0.78% to 2,589 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 282.49 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 908.7 million through 27,130 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 4.7 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 517,900 and EGP 4.2 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose by 1.47% to EGP 86.15, with a turnover of EGP 24.7 million.

Abu Qir Fertilisers topped gainers with 8.04%, while Juhayna led losers with 3.64%.
