EGX ends Tuesday on mixed note

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session mixed amid foreign and Arab buying and local selling.

The benchmark EGX30 index jumped 182.2 points, or 1.03%, to 17,802.48 points.

Market capitalistion gained EGP 5.9 billion and closed at EGP 982.4 billion.

The EGX70 index slipped 0.37% to 864.36 points, while the EGX100 index inched up 0.15% to 2,264.77 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index leaped 1.07% to 3,033.8 points.

Trading volume on stocks reached nearly 289.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.4 billion through 31,700 transactions.

Egyptian investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 433.3 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 337.6 million and EGP 95.7 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 1.22% to EGP 87.87, with a turnover of EGP 41 million.
