EGX ends Thursday near-stable; market cap adds EGP 1.26bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) rose slightly in Thursday’s trading session, backed by local purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 index inched up 1.86 points, or 0.01%, finishing the session at 13,367.44 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index added 0.03% to 687.3 points, whereas the broader EGX100 index edged up 0.01% to 1,724 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted EGX50 index leveled up 0.03% to 2,207 points.

Meanwhile, traded volume amounted to around 149.7 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.001 billion through 26,900 transactions.

Egyptian investors were mostly buyers, netting EGP 84.9 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 45.12 million and EGP 39.8 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) added 0.05% to EGP 74.53, with a turnover of EGP 95.1 million.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 1.26 billion and closed at EGP 765.16 billion.
