EGX ends Monday in green near 12,500 pts

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session up on the back of purchases by foreign traders.

The benchmark EGX30 index jumped 336.18 points, or 2.77%, finishing the session at 12,476.18 points.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 12.8 billion and closed the session at EGP 716.5 billion.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index levelled up 0.89% to 660.67 points, while the broader EGX100 index rose 1.12% to 1,647.43 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index added 2.1% to 2,050.24 points.

Trading volume amounted to 112.6 million shares exchanged through 21,600 transactions at a turnover of EGP 744.5 million.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 209 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 110.9 million and EGP 98.1 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) climbed 4.83% to EGP 71.4, with a turnover of EGP 198 million.
