EC grants $64mn to Tunis for education and research

Tunisia- Decypha: The European Commission (EC) has delivered $64 million in grant to Tunis to finance the Support programme for Education, Mobility, Research and Innovation (EMORI).

The grant, which is part of the Single Support Framwork between Tunisia and the EU, would support sustainable development in the education system and scientific research in the country, local media reported on 3 April.

With the aim of boosting the skills of educational professionals, the program will work on the governance and infrastructure of educational institutions, as well as the development of preparatory education schemes.

It also targets the creation of an inclusive plan for generalizing the digital school model and avoid failure of schools.

Shooting for strengthening the connection between universities and research centres and focusing on the employability of students, the programme would allow the centres to use the European framework programme for research and innovation (Horizon 2020), which will also help in establishing a quality assessment agency.
