Dusit International launches 1st hotel in Qatar

Mubasher: Thailand-based global hospitality company Dusit International revealed that it has inked an agreement with the Al Majed Group to launch its first hotel in Qatar in a bid to expand its footprint in the Middle East.

The new five-star hotel, which is located in the West Bay area of Doha, is within walking distance to the Doha City Centre, Gate Mall and the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.

It is also located near to popular tourist spots such as the Souq Waqif, Katara Cultural Village and The Pearl, according to the group’s recent statement.

Doha Dusit Hotel will include 261 guest rooms and suites, along with 96 hotel apartments.

“Qatar is set to host two of the world’s largest sporting events: the FIFA World Cup and the World Athletic Championship in 2019 which serves as a right time for us to open Dusit Doha Hotel to welcome the organizers, sponsors, and consultants,” Ahmed Mahdi Al Majed, Al Majed Group's chairman, said.

Suphajee Suthumpun, Group CEO of Dusit International, noted that the hotel will be designed keeping in mind the latest developments in the vibrant city.

The hotel is set to be opened by the fourth quarter of 2018, the Thai firm said, giving no further details on the project's cost. 

It is worth noting that the international groups is currently operating 27 properties across four brands in eight countries, and it plans to have 50 properties within the coming three years across the world.
