Dubai to open world’s largest sports mall in 2020

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai-based Viva City announced it is working on the development of its Sport Society project, the world's largest commercial sports mall.

The mall is designed to meet the aspirations of both residents and tourists.

The three-story facility will open its doors in a global event in the first quarter of 2020.

“The project will present big surprises both in design and activities, and will deliver a unique experience combining shopping, entertainment, and sports,” Edgar Bove, head of design at Viva City, said.

The Sport Society’s second and third levels will feature retail outlets by the most prominent international sports brands as well as dedicated spaces for various sports activities, in addition to a large chain of restaurants and cafes, providing organic food and beverages.

The mall also combines a gym, cricket simulators, climbing walls, a full-size National Hockey League (NHL) ice rink, and gymnastics and soft play area

The developer plans to construct a multi-purpose arena with stadium seating.

“Visitors can watch international sports performances and tournaments indoor and outdoor,” Bove added, noting that the project will also have a screen that will be one of the largest LED display panels.

However, the launch of the project comes in line with the Dubai Fitness Challenge, announced under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

The challenge encourages all Dubai residents and visitors to daily exercise for 30 minutes in 30 days to make the GCC emirate the most active city in the world.
