Dubai’s investments in solar power surpass AED 20bn

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai's investments in solar power have exceeded AED 20 billion now, managing director of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said.

The emirate’s investments in solar power will reach AED 50 billion by 2030, Al Bayan reported, citing Al Tayer as saying.

DEWA’s investments in the energy sector will surpass AED 81 billion in the next five years, he added.

He pointed out that achieving the emirate's clean energy strategy requires a production capacity of 42,000 megawatts (MW) of clean and renewable energy by 2050, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park with a capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030 and AED 50 billion in investments.

After completion, the park will help reduce carbon emissions by more than 6.5 million tonnes per annum.
