Dubai registers AED 67.1bn in airborne gold and diamond trade in March-June

UAE – Mubasher: The total value of air-cargo gold and diamond trade in Dubai recorded AED 67.1 billion from March to June 2020, according to the latest statistics by Dubai Customs.

The diamond and gold trade includes around AED 35.6 billion of imports, AED 38.5 million transferred into the free zone, and AED  471.7 million of re-exports.

Meanwhile, the exports of diamond and gold amounted to AED 29.4 billion, while AED 1.4 billion of gold and diamond entered the free zone.

The value of gold and jewelry, raw diamonds, polished diamond, and gold powder registered AED 5.6 billion, AED 5.7 billion, AED 3.6 billion, and AED 31.3 million, respectively.

The Director General of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, said: “Dubai Customs contributes to a vision in which Dubai aspires to maintain its position as the city of gold and diamonds and a strategic hub for the trade of these precious goods."
