Dubai completes 60% of Meydan One’s construction

Dubai – Mubasher: The emirate of Dubai announced finishing 60% of structural work of Meydan One, the lifestyle and retail destination currently under development as part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City in Dubai.

Set to be launched in early 2020, Meydan One will include a 1-kilometre ski slope and the world's largest dancing water fountain.

It will also comprise indoor and outdoor spaces featuring key attractions such as heritage village, beach and water park, hotels and hotel apartments, Dubai's government-owned developer Meydan Group said, giving no further details on the project’s cost.

“We are changing the way the Middle East thinks of mall concepts today. Meydan One has been envisioned as a ‘place for everyone’, which means it seeks to accommodate varied needs and expectations,” Fahad Kazim, vice president of Meydan Mall and Meydan Group, said.

The shopping mall will host around 580 retail stores including 30 anchor stores and 80 flagship luxury stores, 190 dining outlets and a 13,200-square meters hypermarket.

It will also house a multipurpose civic plaza with a capacity to host 30,000 people at any given point of time to facilitate a diverse range of cultural and entertainment activities, the Dubai-based developer noted.

The project will feature an Experience Zone, which provides innovative entertainment, traditional and extreme sports, edutainment and e-gaming experiences, in addition to a multi-purpose sports arena with regulation size courts and designated versatile multi-sports areas.
