Dubai airport hikes parking charges

The parking rates at the Dubai International Airport have been hiked this year, a Dubai Airports spokesperson has confirmed.

Rates have been increased for the “first time in a decade”.

The airport long term and short term parking rates have been hiked from Dhs20 to Dhs25 and Dhs20 to Dhs30 for the first hour respectively.

However, the 24-hour long-term fee has been reduced by 55 per cent from Dhs280 to Dhs125 at all premium car parks and by 39 per cent from Dhs140 to Dhs85 for all long term car parks.

“The new rates have been introduced taking into account inflation and benchmarking our car parks against similar facilities in the region. It also includes 5 per cent VAT,” the spokesperson said.

The car park facility at Dubai International was recently upgraded following “significant capital investment”, the spokesperson said. It now features advanced access systems and multiple payment options.

“To further enhance customer experience, we are planning to expand the car park facility by constructing a new multi-storey car park to add approximately 3,500 spaces in the next couple of years.”

Dubai International, the world’s busiest airport for international travellers, recorded a 5.5 per cent growth in passenger traffic last year to reach 88.2 million. It is forecasting traffic to increase by 2.4 per cent this year to 90.3 million.
