Dubai Parks inks deal with China’s UnionPay

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai Parks and Resorts (DXB Entertainments) has signed a partnership with Chinese payment service UnionPay.

Under the deal, UnionPay would facilitate opportunities for Chinese travellers coming to the UAE.

The Chinese payment service has around 6 billion subscribers worldwide and claims to have the largest cardholder base globally, a joint statement released late Sunday indicated.

The Dubai Parks-UnionPay deal began on 1 August 2018 and should help target the rising number of Chinese visitors to the UAE.

“The strategic partnership with UnionPay reinforces our commitment to establish Dubai as a preferred international family destination, and we have signed recently other strategic partnerships with several industry leaders such as Emirates Airlines, Dubai International Airport and the Dubai Taxi Corporation,” commented DXB Entertainments’ chief commercial officer (CCO) Ahmed Al Rayyes.

The number of Chinese visitors coming to Dubai alone reached 258,000 visitors in the first quarter of 2018, making China one of the top tourism source markets to the emirate, according to the statement.

The agreement follows the launch of the Hala China initiative.

Al Rayyes added that Chinese tourists make up the largest segment of visitors to Dubai each year, highlighting that his company would like to encourage these visitors to come to its hotel and theme parks.
