Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai FDI on Wednesday announced it has succeeded in promoting Dubai as a preferred global investment destination following its latest mission to Spain’s major cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville.
The Dubai delegation has showcased Dubai’s key advantages to 45 top-level investors in Madrid and Seville through seminars, along with holding strategic one-to-one private meetings in Barcelona with major decision makers, according to a press release on Wednesday.
The delegation included executive leaders from Dubai Multi-Commodities Centre (DMCC) and strategic partner Senda International, Dubai FDI, the investment development agency of Dubai Economy (DED), indicated.
CEO of Dubai FDI Fahad Al Gergawi, director of Investment Promotion Department at Dubai FDI Ibrahim Hussain Ahli, executive chairman of DMCC Ahmed Bin Sulayem, and CEO of Senda International Dubai Natalia de la Figuera de Olano have discussed possible cooperation opportunities amid the solid economic ties between the UAE and Spain.
Major companies in the field of healthcare, construction, higher education, manufacturing industries, building materials, and food products have shown an interest in the event.
The event was attended by Consul General of the UAE in Barcelona Mohamed Al Shamsi and Acting Charge d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Madrid Sara Almahri.
The delegation has also discussed collaboration opportunities with the Seville Chamber of Commerce and Industry during its visit to their headquarters, Dubai FDI noted.
During the meetings, Al Gergawi highlighted Dubai FDI’s vital role in facilitating investment strategies within the emirate in line with Dubai’s vision as the investment destination of choice by global investors.
Foreign direct investments (FDI) from Spain to Dubai stood at AED 3.29 billion in 2018, making the European country the fourth top investors in the emirate in terms of FDI capital inflows.
Almost 200 Spanish-owned companies currently operate in the UAE, with over 7,000 Spanish residents in the GCC country.
