CBUAE's foreign assets record AED 403bn in Q2-21

UAE - Mubasher: The foreign assets of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) jumped by 14.9% year-on-year (YoY) to AED 403.1 billion at the end of the second quarter (Q2) of 2021, compared to AED 350.71 billion.

On a quarterly basis, the CBUAE's foreign assets rose by 2.7% in Q2-21, according to the latest data by the CBUAE.

Higher foreign assets were mainly driven by a quarterly rise in the foreign securities by 46%, overshadowing reductions in current account balances and deposits with banks abroad by 10.6%, and in other foreign assets by 7.7%.

During the first six months of 2021, the total value of remittances to individuals and banks through the UAE's system amounted to AED 4.75 trillion.
