CBE unveils EGP 59bn debt instruments on Monday

Cairo - Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) offered treasury bills (T-bills) at a combined value of EGP 55 billion on Monday, 15 April 2024, through two auctions.

The first tranche stood at EGP 30 billion and will mature in 182 days on 15 October this year, according to official data.

With a 364-day maturity period until 15 April 2025, the second offering was valued at EGP 25 billion.

Additionally, the CBE issued treasury bonds (T-bonds) at a value of EGP 4 billion through one tranche. The fixed coupon holds a tenor of three years until 16 April 2027.

On 8 April, the financial authority auctioned two-type T-bonds at an aggregated value of EGP 10 billion.

It is worth highlighting that the CBE resumed its operations today following the Eid El-Fitr holiday.
