Blue chips weigh on EGX early Wednesday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Wednesday’s trading session on a mixed note.

By 10:30 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index slipped 60.72 points, or 0.36%, to 15,862 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index inched up 0.03% to 754.04 points, while the broader EGX100 index dipped 0.08% to 1,948 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index tumbled 0.53% to 2,593 points.

The EGX’s trading volume hit 28.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 77.2 million through 2,700 transactions.

Arab traders were net sellers with EGP 2.3 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 114,300 and EGP 2.23, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) fell 1.17% to EGP 85.5, with a turnover of EGP 9.7 million.
