Banks, telecom weigh on ADX Wednesday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange’s (ADX) general index lost over 100 points, or 2.13%, to close at 4,633.2 points on Wednesday, dragged down by the banks and the telecommunication sectors.

The ADX’s trading volume reached 48.85 million shares, while turnover amounted to AED 157.45 million.

The banks sector shed 2.73% after First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) tumbled 3.54%, while the telecommunication sector and its only stock, Etisalat, went down 2.67% each.

The real estate sector declined 0.15%, as Eshraq Properties sank 1.39%.

On the other hand, the energy sector rose 1.39% after Adnoc Distribution surged 3.4% and Dana Gas added 0.93%.
