Bahrain's Gulf Air makes move to attract more golfers

Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain has enhanced its baggage allowance for golf players to include one golf bag over and above their allowance.

The new policy has been introduced in response to an increasing demand from golfers who fly to attend various golf events within the global Gulf Air network, the airline said in a statement.

The new baggage allowance covers one golf bag containing one set of clubs, balls, one pair of golf shoes and one umbrella, which all must be held within a purpose-designed golf travel bag weighing 15 kilograms or less.

Gulf Air’s CEO, Krešimir Kucko, said: "Gulf Air is happy to further enhance its baggage policy to make it easier for our passengers who travel with their golf equipment. With our expanding network and appealing frequencies, many golfers prefer to fly with us to attend golf events and tournaments regionally and globally and now it’s time to reward them with additional complimentary baggage allowance”.

In October, Gulf Air launched a new baggage policy when the old weight concept was replaced by a piece concept worldwide.

Currently, passengers are entitled to check in up to two bags free of charge, depending on their fare type, route and up to three bags depending on their Gulf Air Falconflyer status.

On many routes, the new concept means increased baggage allowances for customers and an instant reduction in excess baggage rates.
