Assets of Qatari banks grow 2.2% YoY in February

Mubasher: Assets of banks operating in Qatar increased 2.2% year-on-year to QAR 1.41 trillion ($389.67 billion) in February, compared to QAR 1.38 trillion ($381.38 billion), data released by the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) showed Thursday.  

Month-on-month, banks’ assets rose 1.4%, from QAR 1.39 trillion in January.

Meanwhile, credit facilities offered by commercial banks grew 1.77% month-on-month to QAR 966.52 billion, from QAR 949.67 billion in January.

Securities portfolio, including debt instruments, levelled up 0.49% to QAR 176.02 billion in the second month of 2019, from QAR 175.16 billion in January.

On the other hand, Qatari banks’ mandatory reserves fell 1.18% to QAR 35.80 billion last month, against QAR 36.23 billion in January.

Cash and precious metals declined 8.70% month-on-month to QAR 9.44 billion in February, from QAR 10.34 billion.
