Apple Pay set to launch in Saudi Arabia within days

Riyadh – Mubasher: Apple Pay is expected to launch in Saudi Arabia during the course of this week, according to local advertisements.

Saudi-Arabia’s Al-Rajhi Bank revealed that the US tech firm’s e-payment service would be rolled out in the kingdom on 19 February, the same day that has been rumoured for a launch of Apple Pay in the Czech Republic, Arabian Business reported.

In October last year, Apple said it would launch its Apply Pay service in the kingdom soon after the Saudi Payment Network (mada) expressed its support for the payment method.

The US tech giant also indicated that its payment method works with debit cards from a number of major banks and websites including Al-Rajhi Bank, National Commercial Bank (NCB), and Riyad Bank.

Since its launch in October 2014 in the US, Apple Pay has expanded to many countries including the UAE where it works with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Emirates Islamic, Emirates NBD, Mashreq Bank, RAKBAK, Sharjah Islamic Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank.
