Algeria Awards $248M EPC Contract to Maire Tecnimont

Italian Maire Tecnimont has been provisionally awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract worth $248 million by Algerian national oil company Sonatrach to build a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) train at the Hassi Messaoud field, Pipeline Oil and Gas Magazine reported.

The EPC contract is for the LPG Train 4 – ZCINA, and will be implemented in the existing ZCINA facility.

The new train will have a capacity of 8 million standard cubic meters per day of LPG and condensate extraction from associated gas being pumped from from existing plants near the ZCINA facility.

The project aims to increase production of LPG and condensate from the Hassi Messaoud field and is an extension to the existing ZCINA LPG plant.

LPG is a pressurized liquid mixture of propane and butane used for fuel in cooking equipment, heating appliances, and vehicles.

The project is slated to be completed within 30 months from the commencement date.

“We believe that this project can represent the first step of a long-lasting successful collaboration with a prestigious client such as Sonatrach, also in consideration of the strategic relationship between our two countries in the global energy supply scenario,” Pierroberto Folgiero, Maire Tecnimont group chief executive officer, said.
