Al Seer Marine partners with French SEAir to launch high-speed ferries

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Al Seer Marine, a subsidiary of International Holding Company (IHC), has teamed up with France-based design and innovation company SEAir to develop high-speed ferries.

SEAir will provide maritime technologies like hydrofoils which reduce fuel consumption, in addition to patented technologies which endorse stability and shock mitigation, according to a bourse disclosure on Thursday.

Al Seer Marine’s partnership with the French firm will allow the UAE company to offer vessels for public maritime transportation that can carry between 60 and 80 passengers.

Besides reducing travel time, the new ferries will reflect positively on customers by reducing ticket prices and improving safety parameters.

CEO of Al Seer Marine, Guy Neivens, said: “The regional market for passenger ferries is expected to gain traction in the future. This strategic partnership is the latest development in Al Seer Marine’s ongoing long-term expansion as a major player in the maritime industry.”

Al Seer Marine recently bought two very large crude carriers (VLCC) for AED 404 million.
