Al Maha signs an pact with Petronas

Muscat: Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company, the predominant player in the downstream operations in the Sultanate, signed a partnership agreement with Petronas Lubricants International (PLI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia’s national oil corporation, Petronas, on Monday.

Under this agreement, Al Maha is now an authorised distributor of PLI’s innovative, high quality products which will be an ideal partner to compliment Al-Maha’s existing lubricants product portfolio.

The agreement was signed by Ahmed bin Bakheet Al Shanfari, Acting CEO of Al Maha, and Andreas Deges, Head of Regional Business Petronas Lubricants International, in the presence of the management team and staff from both sides.

The agreement is part of Al Maha's efforts to strengthen its presence in the retail sector, particularly in the motor oil market.



Under this agreement, Al Maha will supply its customers with PLI products through its high-street outlets, its 220 filling stations forecourts across the Sultanate, as well as the commercial and car dealers and franchise owners sector. PLI will offer a high end product portfolio in the market. Flagship brands that will be designated for the Omani market include Syntium, Urania, Mach 5, Hydraulic oils, Transmission fluids and Industrial lubricants.

Established in 2008, Petronas manufactures and markets a full range of high-quality automotive and industrial lubricant products in more than 90 markets globally. As a long-term title and technical partner to Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, Petronas works closely with the Mercedes team to design fuel, lubricants and functional fluids for the five-time Formula One World Champion team. Its motorsport partnerships, including with the IVECO-De Rooy team in the Dakar Rally, have enabled the company to translate the technology applied in fluids for the track, to flagship products such as Petronas Syntium with CoolTech, Petronas Urania with ViscGuard and PETRONAS Tutela for vehicles on the road.

Salah bin Abdullah Al Shamsi, Senior Sales Manager of Al Maha, praised the development of Petronas lubricants, which proved to be effective through its impressive successes in Formula 1 and beyond.

Al Shamsi also explained that the company has a marketing plan for the distribution of Petronas lubricants using various channels to reach customers through car wash, lubrication centers and through AlMaha filling stations, in addition to the commercial customers and oil change shops in industrial areas.
