Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Agthia Group has appointed Alan Smith as the company’s CEO, succeeding Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, who served as the group’s acting CEO since last March, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Tuesday.

Smith has a robust experience in managing international markets across the fast-moving consumer goods industry covering the Middle East and Pakistan. He recently served as the managing director of Mondelez International– Middle East & Pakistan, where he spent more than 19 years in various leadership roles, according to a company statement.

“We anticipate that under [Alan’s] leadership, Agthia will continue to capitalise on its position as a key player in the UAE’s food and beverage industry to further its international expansion projects, deliver value to our shareholders, and contribute to Abu Dhabi efforts to develop key sectors of the non-oil economy," said Agthia's chairman and chief investment officer at ADQ, Khalifa Sultan Al Suwaidi.
