Riyadh – Mubasher: Acwa has received government approval granting the company exclusive rights to export green hydrogen and its derivatives produced within Saudi Arabia to international markets. The mandate aligns with national strategic objectives for the energy transition.
The exclusivity agreement covers the export of green ammonia, green methanol, and green methane, as well as synthetic fuels manufactured using green hydrogen, according to a bourse filing.
Beyond hydrogen exports, the government has further commissioned the utility developer to spearhead the development of projects for the production, transmission, and export of electricity derived from renewable energy sources. These power exports are specifically targeted toward European markets and neighboring Arab nations.
Acwa noted that it will disclose any material developments or specific financial impacts resulting from these mandates as they arise, following established regulatory guidelines. The announcement marks a significant expansion of the company's role in the Kingdom’s renewable energy export infrastructure.
The company recently entered into a long-term public-private partnership (PPP) and power purchase agreement for the N’diago power project in Mauritania.
