Riyadh – Mubasher: Acwa Power has received notification on 22 September 2026 regarding the commencement of initial commercial operations at the Taiba 1 combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) project.
The notice, issued by Sidra One Electric Company, confirms the operational certification of initial units with a generation capacity of 1,272 megawatts (MW).
The Taiba 1 facility, located in Madinah, has a total planned production capacity of 1,934 MW. Acwa maintains a 40% equity stake in Sidra One Electric Company, the project developer.
The company stated that the financial impact resulting from the operation of this initial phase is expected to be reflected in its financial results starting from the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2026.
This milestone marks a significant step toward reaching the full design capacity of the power plant.
In the same vein, the group began the initial commercial operations at the Al Qassim 1 CCGT plant.
