AccorHotles has Middle East's largest construction pipeline in Q3 – Report

Mubasher: Hotel construction in the Middle East levelled up during the third quarter of 2018 on the back of building 617 facilities including 180,097 rooms, according to a recent report.

The France-based hotel operator AccorHotels has the largest construction pipeline, with 102 projects comprising 28,079 rooms, data company Lodging Econometrics (LE) said.

Marriott International came in the second place with 95 established hotels with 21,083 rooms, while Hilton’s brand ranked third with 90 investments including  25,888 rooms.

The number of rooms jumped 15%, while hotels constructed in the quarter ended September went up 8% year-on-year, analysts at LE noted.

“The leading pipeline brands for these companies are AccorHotels’ Ibis brands with 18 projects and 5,861 rooms, and Novotel, with 16 projects and 5,204 rooms while Marriott’s Courtyard with 21 projects and 4,476 rooms and Residence Inn with 16 projects and 1,877 rooms both recorded their highest pipeline counts,” LE’s report added.

The report said that the largest number of hotels were implemented in the UAE with 223 hotels that comprise 63,734 rooms, while there were about 214 investments carried out in Saudi Arabia including 76,324 rooms.

Riyadh acquired the largest number of hotels with 61, featuring 11,574 rooms.
