Abu Dhabi's non-oil exports, re-exports hit AED 32.8bn from June to August

UAE - Mubasher: Abu Dhabi's non-oil exports and re-exports hiked by 62.5% to AED 32.8 billion during the June-August period in 2020 from AED 20.2 billion in the March-May period in 2020.

These results were revealed by the latest report published by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), according to a press release on Monday.

The growth in Abu Dhabi's non-oil exports and re-exports is attributed to the UAE capital’s economic and trade relations with countries in the Middle East and around the world.

Saudi Arabia topped the list of Abu Dhabi's trade partners in the March-August period of 2020, with AED 15.3 billion non-oil goods imported from the emirate.

In addition, Switzerland, Hong Kong, China, and Kuwait were among the key trading partners of Abu Dhabi, as the non-oil exports and re-exports to these countries represented 65.4% of the emirate's total exports from March until May 2020.

Meanwhile, industry supplies; transport equipment, parts, and accessories; and food and beverage products constituted 88.7% of Abu Dhabi's total non-oil exports and re-exports from June to August 2020.

Pearl products, precious, semi-precious stones, and jewelry; equipment for vehicles, airplanes, ships, and similar means of transportation; and metals and their related products represented 67% of the emirate's non-oil exports and re-exports in the June-August period in 2020.

The Chairman of ADDED, Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, said: "The recent results showcase the growth in Abu Dhabi’s non-oil exports and re-exports despite the global repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the current economic crisis that has negatively affected all countries."
