Abu Dhabi Ship Building sells floating dry dock for $9m

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) has sold a floating dock for vessel drydocking repairs to France-based Grand Port Maritim de Rouen in exchange for $9.4 million.

The company has taken this decision, as the facility is uneconomic to operate on the current yard rental outflow contract, according to a bourse filing on Sunday.

The company had gained AED 14 million prior to the additional operating costs, including rent and staff costs, incurred from 1 January 2021 until disposal.

It is noteworthy to mention that during the first nine months of 2020, the company's net losses increased by 58% year-on-year (YoY), driven by lower revenues and higher general and administrative expenses.
