ADX maintains losses amid higher turnover

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) continued its downward trend on Monday, weighed down by the fall of the banks and real estate sectors.

The main index retreated 0.61% or 27.73 points to reach 4,540.27 points.

Trading volume increased to 56.09 million shares on Monday, compared to 35.07 million shares last Sunday. Turnover grew to AED 208.46 million, compared to AED 103.94 million.

The banks sector slid 1.34% as National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) and First Gulf Bank (FGB) decreased 3.38% and 1.17% respectively.

The real estate sector fell 0.31% after Aldar Properties went down 0.37%.

On the flipside, the energy sector rose 1.42% as Dana Gas grew 1.79%.

The telecom sector gained 0.26% after Etisalat advanced 0.26%.

First Gulf Bank (FGB) was the value leader after generating AED 81.5 million, representing 39% of the market’s turnover.
