ADX falls to lowest in 15M after Eid holiday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Exchange Securities (ADX) closed Monday’s trading session, the first session following the Eid Al Fitr Holiday, in red territory, dragged down by the telecommunication and banking sectors.

By the end of Monday’s trading session, the ADX’s general index retreated by 126.46 points, or 2.68%, to 4,588.27 points, the lowest level since March 2017.

The market’s turnover narrowed to AED 105.301 million, versus AED 187.78 million on Thursday, while trading volume shrank to 40.43 million shares from 53.6 million shares.

The banking sector shed 2.67% as First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) slid 3.56% and 2.02%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the real estate sector lost 2.11%, weighed down by Eshraq Properties and Aldar Properties which dropped 2.82% and 1.92%, respectively.

The energy sector was the lowest loser with around 0.21%, as ADNOC Distribution slipped 0.83%.

On the other hand, the services sector was the only gainer, adding 0.69% on the back of National Marine Dredging Co (NMDC) which gained 0.33%.
