ADX ends Wednesday in red

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The banks and telecommunication sectors have weighed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) on Wednesday.

The ADX’s general index has closed Wednesday’s trading session 0.68% down, losing 32.47 points at 4,750.01 points.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 39.76 million shares exchanged through 1,463 transactions at a turnover of AED 160.34 million.

The banks sector shed 1.24% after the heavyweight First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) fell 1.71%.

Similarly, the telecommunication sector slipped 0.26% as Etisalat went down by the same percentage.

On the other hand, the real estate sector rose by 1.87%, backed by Aldar Properties which added 1.8%, while the energy sector went up 1.75% as Dana Gas increased 1.21%.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) was the most heavily traded stock with a turnover of AED 65.96 million, while Dana gas was the most active stock in terms of trading volume with 9.44 million shares.
