ADQ acquires Turkish pharmaceuticals company

UAE - Mubasher: ADQ has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Birgi Mefar Group (BMG), a Turkey-based producer of sterile injectable products.

This transaction will enable ADQ to expand its life sciences and healthcare portfolio in sterile injectables and wider pharmaceutical services segments, according to a press release on Monday.

Alongside being the provider of sterile injectable products, BMG produces primary packaging ampoules and vials for other sterile injectables and specialises in the growing demand for drug lyophilization.

The Executive Director of Healthcare and Life Sciences Portfolio at ADQ, Fahad Al Qassim, said: "With this integrated capability, we believe it can enhance local expertise and build on the UAE’s ability to manufacture and distribute quality health products as the region’s leading pharmaceutical hub."

Meanwhile, the CEO at Birgi Mefar Group, Faik Somer, commented: "For more than 50 years, we have been committed to quality healthcare and with ADQ’s support, we will be in a stronger position to deliver excellence in global contract development and manufacturing of sterile products that will ultimately generate long-term sustainable growth."
