ADNOC to expand Ruwais city, create more jobs

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has unveiled plans to expand Ruwais City, which could double the city’s population and create a variety of jobs.

ADNOC is planning to build over 3,000 new residential units in the city, along with a group of lifestyle, recreation, and community projects including new beach facilities, a central park, traditional souq, and an 18-hole golf course, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM).

“Our investment in the further development of Ruwais City is an investment in our people, our most important asset. It is not just about enhancing the city’s infrastructure; it is about improving residents’ quality of life,” ADNOC Group CEO Sultan Al Jaber commented.

The state-run oil giant’s expansion project also includes the upgrade of Ruwais complex to up its flexibility and integrated capabilities to boost the volume of the production of higher-value petrochemicals and derivative products, WAM reported.

“The AED 165 billion investment in our downstream operations, over the next five years, will have a big ripple effect that will create new employment opportunities, establish new businesses and enable existing businesses to grow and prosper,” Al Jaber said.
