ADFD allocates AED 35m to development projects in Comoros

UAE - Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has inked an agreement with the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) to allocate AED 35 million to the development projects backed by the UAE's Mother of the Nation programme in the Comoros.

Focusing on key sectors including education, health, and agriculture sectors, the programme aims to launch seven development projects across the Comoros to support over 360,000 people, according to a press release on Monday.

The programme also seeks to empower productive SMEs in the agricultural sector, create job opportunities, and achieve self-sufficiency.

The development projects, supported by the programme, in the islands include AED 4.5 million for a garment manufacturing unit, AED 10 million for a student dormitory, and AED 13 million for two mother and childcare center with a dialysis unit.

Since 1979, ADFD has dedicated AED 436 million to finance development projects in the Comoros and enhance key sectors, including energy, education, healthcare, water, and transportation.

The Director-General of ADFD, Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, said: "The development projects implemented by the Mother of the Nation program with ADFD’s financial assistance will focus on productive projects in the agricultural sector as well as on setting up medical centers and modern schools to improve the educational and healthcare services."
