4 sectors drag QSE down at Tuesday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Tuesday’s trading session in the red, dragged down by the fall of four sectors, amid increased turnover.

The general index inched down 0.09%, or 9.15 points, to 9,823.53 points.

The QSE’s liquidity increased to QAR 212.06 million on Tuesday from QAR 183.32 million on Monday, while trading volume went up to 5.84 million shares against 5.59 million in the previous session.

The transportation sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 0.82% on the back of Gulf Warehousing Company’s 1.7% drop.

Similarly, the industrial sector plunged 0.69% as Industries Qatar declined 1.52%.

On the other hand, the banking sector headed the bourse’s three gainers adding 0.36% following Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) 0.57% increase.

By the end of the session, QNB’s stock led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 44.4 million, while Vodafone Qatar’s stock, which stood at QAR 8.75, spearheaded the market in terms of trading volume with 1.01 million shares.
