4 Arab countries top Egypt’s export destinations in 7M

Cairo – Mubasher: Four Arab countries have topped Egypt’s export destinations during the first seven months of 2018 with $3.1 billion, accounting for 20.8% of total exports.

UAE imports from the North African nation valued at $1.43 billion, followed by Turkey with imports valued at $1.29 billion, head of the General Organization for Export & Import Control (GOEIC) Ismail Gaber said in a statement on Sunday.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia imports from Egypt reached $839 million, whereas imports of Algeria and Jordan stood at $474 million and $360 million, respectively, Gabe added.

Earlier this morning, trade minister Amr Nassar said that Egypt’s non-oil exports rose by 14.3% year-on-year during the first seven months of 2018, recording $14.89 billion from $13.25 billion.

Meanwhile, Egyptian non-oil imports increased by 15.28% to reach $38.15 billion in the January-July period of this year, compared to $33.97 billion in the same period of 2017.

External trade grew by 15% to $53.048 billion in the seven-month period, versus $46.12 billion in the prior-year period, Nassar added.
