105% increase in Egyptian exports to US in 2017

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said Wednesday Egypt's exports to the United States increased 105.5 percent in 2017 (about LE 23.6 billion) compared to 11.5 billion in 2016.

In a bulletin on economic relations between Egypt and the United States, CAPMAS said Egyptian ready-to-wear clothes ranked first among exports (51.5 percent) of the total exports where they hit LE 12 billion in 2017 against 6.4 billion pounds in 2016 with an increase of about 88.8 percent.

It added that Egypt's imports from the United States hit LE 69.1 billion in 2017, representing 5.9 percent of Egypt's imports from the world against LE 38.1 billion in 2016.

It added the Egyptian imports from the US included machines and their spare parts which represented 12.9 percent of the total imports from the United States.

The bulletin pointed out that US investments in founding companies in Egypt hit EGP 79.9 million in 2017 against 27.02 million in 2016.
