IDEX 2017 deals reach AED 1.1bn on 3rd day

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The third day of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2017 saw the signing of more than AED 4.075 billion ($1.11 billion) in deals, said brigadier general and official spokesman for IDEX 2017 Rashid Al Shamsi on Tuesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, the official revealed that 31 deals were signed on Tuesday including an agreement with US-based Raytheon to purchase spare parts for the UAE’s air defence forces for AED 828.26 million.

Deals also included an AED 285 million agreement with the UAE’s Etimad Holding LLC to maintain border security systems and air force buildings, he said.

The UK’s HESCO signed a deal worth AED 67.16 million for engineering preparations and materials, while Germany’s Bluecher GmbH signed an AED 164.9 million deal.

IDEX 2017 also saw several UAE companies sign deals, including CAE Maritime Middle East’s AED 275.47 million deal and Bayanat for Mapping and Surveying Services’ AED 277 million agreement, the spokesman highlighted.

On Monday, Al Shamsi had revealed that more than AED 6.92 billion ($1.88 billion) in deals were signed.

The IDEX and NAVDEX 2017 commenced on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of 1,235 international companies from 57 countries.

The exhibition will end on Thursday, 23 February 2017.
