The Dow Jones industrial average went down 0.25% by 2:45pm GMT.
On the flipside, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 added 0.13% or 2.17 points to reach 2,194.25 points.
The NASDAQ composite index advanced 0.17% or 0.09 points to 5,265.59 points.
