EGX ends Thursday on positive note

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed in green on Thursday amid buying activity by foreign investors of EGP 147.5 million.

The benchmark index EGX30 added 0.83% or 94.9 points to close at 11,548.15 points.

The small and medium caps index EGX70 increased 1.53% to close at 463.6 points, while the broader index EGX100 went up 0.99% to close at 1,087.77 points.

Similarly, the equal weighted index EGX50 rose 1.6% to close at 1,877.5 points.

The market capitalisation levelled up by EGP 5.3 billion to EGP 571.5 billion.

Turnover reached EGP 1.8 billion through exchanging 757.7 million shares.

Global Telecom (GT) topped the traded values by EGP 215 million and rose 2.67% to EGP 6.15.

Pioneers Holding Company came second in traded values by EGP 124.9 million and added 2.8% to EGP 12.33.

The Commercial International Bank (CIB) was up 0.84% to EGP 69.4, with a turnover of EGP 69.6 million.

On the stock level, 103 stock levelled up, 57 levelled down and 26 shares remained unchanged.

Foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 160.1 million and EGP 2.2 million, respectively, while local investors were net sellers with EGP 162.3 million.

Institutions tended to purchase by net of EGP 103 million, while individuals tended to sell.
