QSE sees gains Thursday

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) saw a positive performance on Thursday.

The general index rose 1.22% or 119.92 points to reach 9,913.75 points.

The industrial sector topped gainers with a 2.8% rise, backed by Gulf International Services (GIS) and Qatari Investors Group QSC (QIGD) which added 7.7% and 7.1% respectively.

The real estate sector also advanced 1.37% as United Development Co (UDC) grew 2.66%. The banks sector also went up 1.03% after Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) gained 3.2%.

On the flipside, the transportation sector fell 0.03% after Qatar Gas Transport Limited (Nakilat) slid 1.43%.

The insurance sector retreated 1.64% as Qatar Insurance Co. and Qatar Islamic Insurance (QIC) sank 2.21% and 0.61% respectively.

The market saw trading of 12.73 million shares on Thursday, compared to 36.44 million shares on Wednesday. Turnover stood at QAR 370.37 million, compared to QAR 652.41 million.

Qatar First Bank (QFB) was the worst performer after falling 2.34%. Vodafone Qatar was also the value leader after generating QAR 86.25 million.
