US stocks gain at open ahead of Trump inauguration

Mubasher: US indices commenced Friday's trades in the green, a few hours before president elect Donald Trump's official inauguration.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average grew 0.45% or 91.58 points to 19,823.7 points, after briefly hitting 100 points, while the S&P 500 added 0.52% to 2,275.59 points.

Nasdaq Composite increased 0.57% to 5,570.78 points.

Trump is scheduled to take the oath of office at 16:30 GMT with investors keeping awaiting his speech and tone.

US stocks have rallied significantly since Trump won the US elections in November, particularly after his promises on cutting corporate taxes and increasing government spending.

By 15:14 GMT, Brent crude for March delivery gained 2.31% to $55.41 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil for February delivery increased 2.47% to $52.64 per barrel.
