Etihad Airways, Royal Jordanian sign new codeshare partnership

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national airline, and Royal Jordanian on Thursday announced signing a new codeshare partnership.

The first partnership between the two airlines will provide their customers with greater access to key destinations in Europe, Asia, North Africa, Canada and Australia, according to Etihad Airways' statement.

The codeshare flights will be available for purchase on 7 February 2019, and the first flight will be on 15 February.

Under the deal, the UAE’s airline will place its ‘EY’ code on Royal Jordanian’s flights from Abu Dhabi via Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport to Larnaca and Berlin and the agreement will include Algiers, Tunis, Vienna and Montreal soon.  

The Jordanian flag carrier will also place its ‘RJ’ code on Etihad Airways’ flights from Amman to Abu Dhabi and vice versa, and then from the UAE capital to Brisbane and Seoul.

Subject to government approvals, RJ will also place its code on Etihad Airways’ flights from the UAE capital to, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calicut, Cochin, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Manila, Beijing and Shanghai.

“This is the first phase of what we hope is a long-lasting and expanding partnership,” Etihad Aviation Group’s CEO Tony Douglas said.
