EGX falls 141 pts; market cap loses EGP 7.7bn at Monday’s close

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session on a negative note.

The benchmark EGX30 index dropped by 141 points, or 1.05%, finishing the session at 13,379 points on Monday, compared to 13,520 points on Sunday.

Likewise, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index went down 0.32% to close at 599 points, while the broader EGX100 index retreated 0.54% to 1,518.91 points.

Meanwhile, the equal-weighted EGX50 index slid 1.71% to close at 1,991.09 points.

Market capitalisation lost about EGP 7.67 billion to EGP 733.79 billion from EGP 741.46 billion in the previous session.

Trading volume stood at about 74 million securities exchanged at a turnover of EGP 430.7 million through nearly 13,400 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 26.3 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 16.2 million and EGP 10.1 million, respectively.
