EGX ends Wednesday varied; market cap up EGP 2.6bn

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday's trading session on a mixed note amid Arab and local purchases and foreign selloffs.

The main EGX30 index rose by 0.65% to end at 10,272 points, while the heavyweight Commercial International Bank-Egypt (CIB) fell by 0.51% to EGP 51 per share.

Meanwhile, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI declined by 0.56% to 2,347 points and the EGX100 EWI retreated by 0.19% to 3,315 points. 

Likewise, the EGX50 EWI dropped by 0.26% to close at 2,213 points. 

The market cap value grew by EGP 2.66 billion to reach EGP 651.685 billion. 

Arab and local investors were net buyers with EGP 38.2 million and EGP 16.4 million, respectively, while foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 54.6 million. 

The market's turnover amounted to EGP 1.62 billion after 583.9 million shares were exchanged through around 52,810 transactions.
