Alba's Line 6 Expansion in Bahrain reaches final construction stages

Senior members from Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) have conducted an inspection of the final stage of the Line 6 Expansion project, one of the biggest brownfield developments in the kingdom.

Alba’s chairman, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa, was joined by executive management and various teams of the project to witness the handover of the remaining pots for the safe start-up of Line 6.

The Line 6 project is currently 96% complete and will offer employment opportunities for locals across Bahrain, according to Alba.

Bechtel is involved as engineering, procurement, and construction management contractor for Line 6, which upon completion will make Alba the world's largest smelter.

Commenting on the project, Shaikh Daij said: “I would like to thank all Alba employees and contractors for the continued success on the safe start-up of Line 6.

“I am confident that the Line 6 start-up team will continue to take extreme ownership on safety as we approach the final stages of the ramp-up.”
