ADSB awarded AED 3.5bn contract to build patrol vessels for UAE navy

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE Ministry of Defense (MOD) and UAE Navy have awarded Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) a AED 3.5 billion contract to build new patrol vessels.

The new contract is the largest order received by ADSB, which will manufacture Falaj 3-class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), a highly flexible and versatile offshore patrol vessel, according to a press release on Tuesday.

ADSB, part of the Platforms & Systems cluster of the advanced technology group for defence and beyond EDGE, operates three main naval programmes, comprising corvettes, offshore patrol vessels, and fast patrol boats.

The Chairman of ADSB and President – Mission Support at EDGE, Khalid Al Breiki, said: "The contract will provide the company with a platform for sustainable profitable growth, while maintaining strategic national assets that are critical to the defence of the UAE."

The CEO of ADSB, David Massey, remarked: "ADSB’s relationship with key stakeholders has grown stronger since it has become a part of the EDGE Group."
