GCC-based Shorages secures $1m funding round to boost e-commerce

UAE – Mubasher: Dubai-based logistics startup Shorages has raised a pre-series A round valued at $1 million following its successful launch in Saudi Arabia, according to a press release.

Led by Joa Capital as part of their S3 Ventures Fund, the fundraising will be used for international expansion as Shorages plans to launch more warehouses across the GCC.

The company plans to scale up its business in Saudi Arabia, mainly building a bridge between the UAE and the Kingdom.

Shorages provides a network of fulfilment centres that enable merchants to unlock online sales in the GCC region.

As an omnichannel logistics provider, Shorages is well-equipped with the infrastructure needed to help merchants launch and expand their business across business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) channels.

The platform has backed several brands with their online and offline product distribution, as it leverages economies of scale to secure favourable terms from suppliers and extends those terms to its merchants.

The CEO of Shorages, Rayan Osseiran, commented: “We aim to capitalise on that positioning by acting as the de facto logistics infrastructure for those companies. ”
