Egypt, EIB ink EUR75m loan deal

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt has signed a loan agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) with a total value of EUR 75 million to finance the purchasing of 13 new trains for the second line of Cairo Metro.

The deal was signed on Sunday by the minister of international cooperation Sahar Nasr who said that the project will be under the supervision of the national authority for tunnels to improve the level of services in the Egyptian capital metro project.

EIB investments in Egypt amounts to EUR 7.7 billion allocated in many fields, mainly renewable energy, transportation, sewage systems, as well as supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), according to the ministry’s statement.
